A simple method of calculating eigenvalues and resonances in domains with regular ends

We present a simple new approach to the solution of a wide class of spectral and resonance problems on infinite domains with regular ends, including those found in the study of quantum switches, waveguides, and acoustic scatterers. Our algorithm is part analytical and part numerical and is essentially a combination of four classical approaches (domain decomposition, boundary elements, finite el...

ON THE SPECTRAL BEHAVIOR-OF DEUTERIO ANALOGUES OF SOME CAFtBOXYLIC ACIDS IN HEAVY WATER AND CORRELATION BETWEEN THEIR CARBONYL STRETCHING FREQUENCIES AND THEIR ACIDIC STRENGTHS AT INFINITE DILUTION

Infrared spectra of some deuterio analogues of carboxylic acids in heavy water have been investigated and their spectral behavior in carbonyl stretching frequency region have been interpreted in terms of their structural behavior in aqueous solutions. It has been shown that a linear relationship exists between carbonyl stretching frequency of solvated acids at infinite dilution and their...

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE THEORY OF DIFFERENTIABLE STRUCTURES ON INFINITE INTEGRAL DOMAINS

A special class of differentiable functions on an infinite integral domain which is not a field is introduced. Some facts about these functions are established and the special case of z is studied in more detail

Investigating on the Effects of Random Irregularities of Railway Track by Half-Bogie Model

The vibrations produced by trains include two parts which are deterministic and random vibrations. Due to variation of dynamic loads and patterns of load-time, the random vibration of moving train is one of the most important issues in the field of railway engineering. One of the important sources in producing the train vibrations is rail roughness and irregularities. In this paper, responses o...

A simple method of calculating eigenvalues and resonances in domains with infinite regular ends∗

A new approach is presented for the solution of spectral problems on infinite domains with regular ends, which avoids the need to solve boundary value problems for many trial values of the spectral parameter. We present numerical results both for eigenvalues and for resonances, comparing with results reported by Aslanyan, Parnovski and Vassiliev [Q. J. Mech. Appl. Math. 53 (2000), 429–447].
